Who's Moving Where In Wealth Management? Vontobel, China Merchants Bank, Others

Switzerland-headquartered Vontobel Asset Management  has appointed Andreas Faeste as senior institutional relationship manager for its business in Australia and New Zealand.

In his new role, Faeste will focus on distributing Vontobel’s fixed income capabilities.

With more than 20 years of experience in the Australian market, particularly in fixed income, Faeste previously was engaged by firms including Voya Investment Management, Perennial Investment Partners and Deutsche Asset Management through his own marketing firm. Prior to this, he held executive management positions at both ING Investment Management and IAG Asset Management.

“Australia remains one of the fastest-growing markets with large allocations to both traditional and alternative debt strategies, where we see interesting potential for some of our prime capabilities like emerging debt, multi sector bond and asset backed securities,” Bobby Bostic, head of sales, Australia/New Zealand at Vontobel Asset Management Australia Pty Limited, said.

China Merchants Bank
The vice chairman and non-executive director of the board of  has resigned effective immediately. 

Due to work reasons, Li Xiaopeng has resigned from his role on the bank’s board and as a member of the strategy committee. 

Xiaopeng has confirmed that he has no disagreement with the board of directors, and there is no matter that needs to be brought to the attention of the shareholders and creditors of the company, CMB said in a statement.

He served as a non-executive director of CMB since November 2014 and as the vice chairman since November 2015. The firm has not stated if anyone will replace Xiaopeng on the board.

As at 11 January, the executive directors of the firm are Tian Huiyu and Li Hao. 

The non-executive directors of the company are:  Li Jianhong, Sun Yueying, Fu Gangfeng, Hong Xiaoyuan, Su Min, Zhang Jian and Wang Daxiong.

And the independent non-executive directors of CMB are: Leung Kam Chung, Antony, Wong Kwai Lam, Pan Chengwei, Pan Yingli, Zhao Jun and Wong See Hong.
